All knife sharpening is the same... Right?

Keeping your knives sharp can sometimes feel overwhelming when they come in all shapes and sizes, with so many different sharpening devices available.

Generic sharpeners sacrifice consistency for versatility. Results are very hit-and-miss, and when used improperly, tend to cause a much higher level of wear and tear instead of sharpening.

Effects of commonly used sharpening devices

What happens when your sharpening device no longer works?... You do a total knife reset!

  • We use adjustable angle sharpeners that reduce operator error, for consistency and repeatable results.
  • Our focus is on precision and performance, not mass production.
  • We do a total reset on your knives, making them easily maintained by you!

What does a total reset look like?

Better than factory sharpening, a full polishing, and you are ready to take over!

3 stage and 5 stage sharpening? What's the difference?

3 Stage

  • Produces a cutting edge that surpasses factory sharpness.
  • Has micro-serrations that is versatile (tiny "teeth" that's like a mini-saw).
  • Prioritises durability for longer edge retention.

3 stage sharpening

5 Stage

  • Produces a cutting edge that's razor sharp and highly polished.
  • The mirror-like finish and included blade polishing reduces cutting resistance.
  • Prioritises sharpness and performance for precision work.

5 stage sharpening

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to fill up an online form to get my knives sharpened?

  • We can sharpen almost anything you bring to us, but not everything.
  • The online form collects important information, and enables us to assess if we have the capability to sharpen your items.

What items do you not sharpen?

  • Items beyond our current capabilities:
    • Serrated knives
    • Blades broken into multiple parts
    • Handles with missing parts
    • Blades separated from their handles
    • Heavy corrosion that has changed the shape of the blade
  • Items prohibited by the Singapore Police Force:
    • Automatic/flick knives
    • Butterfly knives
    • Concealed blades
    • Wasp knives (knives incorporating a compressed gas component)
    • Throwing knives
    • Throwing stars (aka ninja stars)

Why do you need to see my knives before quoting a price?

  • Like how a vehicle mechanic does an assessment before quoting a price, the more damage detected, the more work involved, the more cost involved.
  • Some knives have blades so thin that they can't be effectively sharpened with the Essential Service plan (15 to 20 DPS), and some knife blades are so distorted that they have to be ground down before sharpening can begin.

How do I know what sharpening angle to select for my knives?

  • During our assessment, we measure the thickness of your knife blade and calculate the most practical sharpening angle.
  • Knives are typically sharpened according to their original design, but many knives we've encountered have been altered so much that they no longer resemble their original condition. Hence the measurement during assessment.

How to choose add-on components for my sharpening plan?

  • For the Professional Service, we've bundled the most commonly used components to speed up workflows.
  • For Essential Service, we've made it very modular for flexibility and cost effectiveness
  • Some components work best together.
    • Rust removal must be done before polishing! (Rust can't be polished)
    • Edge repairs must be done before sharpening! (A distorted edge can't be sharpened with a flat abrasive)
